Biodiesel

As a farmer-owned cooperative, CountryMark takes a greater interest in biodiesel-blended fuels than do most oil refiners. Biodiesel is made from domestic, renewable resources like soybean oil and animal fats, which our farmer-owner produce. As such, we are committed to sourcing the best quality biodiesel anywhere in the country and blending that biodiesel at all of our company-owned fuel terminals with the most sophisticated biodiesel blending systems available today.

While CountryMark does not produce its own biodiesel, it does source only the best biodiesel produced in the country. CountryMark requires that biodiesel we purchase will exceed government requirements on 12 standards. These more stringent requirements make a huge difference in how CountryMark biodiesel blended fuels perform and hold up in fuel storage.

Customers who burn CountryMark biodiesel blended fuels will enjoy longer engine life due to increased fuel lubricity, quicker engine starts because biodiesel is a high cetane fuel, and reduced engine emissions.

Consider these emission reduction facts – the average school bus in this country burns 1,800 gallons of fuel per year. By switching to CountryMark B20, this singular school bus will reduce particulate matter, hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions by over 30 pounds per year. That may not seem like a lot, but for a child who has asthma that can make a huge difference in how many days of school they are able to attend and the quality of each of those days!

CountryMark is also committed to the winter operability of our biodiesel blended fuels. Every gallon of CountryMark biodiesel blended fuel is specially treated with cold flow improvers based on the percent of biodiesel blended into each gallon. In addition to using good fuel chemistry, CountryMark-branded fuel drivers also receive annual training on tank maintenance procedures to ensure that biodiesel blended fuels receive the cold flow improvers needed for the temperatures when the fuels will be used. They also receive training on how to check for and remove free water from fuel tanks. Correctly treated biodiesel blended fuels stored in well maintained fuel tanks create positive customer experiences.
